Is replacing my movement something I can do?

Yes, a person with a few common hand tools, a little common sense should have no problems. If you prefer contact our full service clock repair station to make arrangements to have your antique clock repaired.

Can I replace the suspension spring on my Howard Miller clock?

Absolutely! We have movement suspension springs for your Howard Miller clock with replacement instructions and Spring Dimension Chart! We also have most replacement pendulums, weights, keys, dials, chime bars, chain and cable driven Hermle, Kieninger & Urgos movements.

How do I know which bridge fits my Hermle 451 Series movement?

Just match your movement with the drawings to identify whether your Hermle clock movement is a "high bridge" or a "low bridge" version before ordering.

Are any special tools or materials required?

None at all, just commonly owned hand tools for dismantling and re-assembly.

Do I need to oil my movement before I install it in my case?

No, your new movement was properly oiled at the Hermle factory.

How much time is required to remove and replace a movement?

It depends on many factors, but generally an hour or two should be sufficient.

Will I be able to reuse my existing hands & pendulum?

In almost all cased the answer is yes.

What if I can not find my movement's ID number listed?

The Master List contains almost every movement number we stock. There are some exceptions, so if your movement number is not on this list, email us the number you need.

What information do I need to supply?

  • Manufactures name on the dial of your clock:
    • We need the manufactures name of your clock if you can find it. The name will frequently be on the front of the dial.
  • Manufactures name on the movement inside your clock:
    • Look on the back of the clock movement for identification markings. This means to look on the back of the clockworks itself, not on the door, not in the owner's manual, and not on the back of the clock case.
  • All of the numbers off of the back plate of your clock movement
    • Write any information that is on the back plate of the clock movement down and send it to us.

What if my clock manufacturer has gone out of business?

We may have replacement movements for your Mason & Sullivan or S La Rose clocks, which have gone out of business. Your movement may also be repairable. Contact our sister company, www.DakotaClock.com. for repair estimates.
